Navigating the Slough of Despond

Contemporary conditions in this country have for many young Australian men, become absolutely unbearable. The constant barrage of media demoralisation adds to the feeling of hopelessness for the future in both economic terms and in life satisfaction through marriage, community and avocation. It is these feelings which naturally, and blamelessly lead most of the young men that occupy the Nationalist/Patriotic landscape to a depressed state, to be bogged down in what we would call the slough of despondency.

Why bother? they ask, why spend time, energy, concentration and self-discipline building up your career, your family and your kindred when it’s all going to be chewed up and destroyed anyway? “The system is rigged” they say, and by consequence of this despondency, the only solace in life is to sustain yourself entirely for political purposes, the pursuit of cheap political stunts and thrills or even more-so, to seek revenge on the enemy by acting out in extreme ways to gain a reaction, whether or not any of the aforementioned activities have a lasting strategic benefit for our people that is proportionate to the risks and costs associated.

Any man can admire the courage that is often showed by a young man throwing himself at the enemy in the most explosive way possible; the problem however is, as has been mentioned in former articles, that this strategy (without sufficient institutional resources, logistics) is not conducive to a good strategic outcome; more often than not, it exposes the rank and file, good-hearted young Nationalists to risks that are totally disproportionate to the strategic gains that are made in thrill-chasing activities, for how many young men are able to endure the harassment of the law enforcement and media apparatus without burning out to be lost to the cause forevermore?

When all is stacked against you, it is difficult to adopt the position, to both be patient and stubborn and to escape indulging yourself in despondency. Those who suffer with this kind of depression can feel morally absolved of the obligation to act prudently, to study and to work hard for your family and nation; Because all amounts to nought in the despondent mindset, there can be no concrete planning for the welfare of your family and your people, only the pursuit of a very difficult battle, in a desperate and impatient way which naturally means, without the adequate financial and legal resources to face the challenge and preserve the ranks.

It is among the chief objectives of the Australian Natives’ Association to ensure that our rank and file membership remain out of the slough of despondency, to act with self-confidence in the future of our association, our families and our nation. Regardless of the political winds of the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments, we do have enough time, enough skill and competence, prudence and care to carve out a concrete future for ourselves on this land, there are currently stacked against us great difficulties, but none that warrant defeatist attitudes that cause irrational and suboptimal strategic decision-making.

We charge all men and members to take up the task of patiently working diligently to contribute to the advancement of our people and our association. We have been meticulously growing and securing small, tangible victories for the last 8 years and continue to express our confidence in uncompromising, strategic action for the welfare of our nation in the future; not from a position of despondent, anxious fear, but from strong, tempered consensus.

Do not lose patience, morale or optimism for the future, for all men who participate in our association, they guarantee it.

For whilst Hannibal pillaged the countryside in the second Punic war, The great general Quintus Fabius Maximus, recognising his strategic position, his lack of experienced manpower and resources, and from this the disproportionate risks to entering a pitched battle: Fabius continued on at a distance, despite the allegations of cowardice, much like those naysayers now who cry out “What do you actually do”, built up his numbers, trained, drilled and resourced the Roman legions; creating the actual opportunity to strike a hard and finishing blow to the Carthaginian foe, his wisdom, patience and staunch personality being ultimately responsible for the salvation of Rome and deciding the course of human history.
