Sydney Branch

Sydney Branch

Sydney Founded: 1885 Reestablished: 2025

A rich history

Efforts to establish a Sydney branch of the Australian Natives' Association began in 1885. By the late 1880s, the Sydney branch was bustling, meeting fortnightly with regular attendees. The Sydney branch of the association was formally reincorporated in 2025, with an elected committee, and is among the latest additional branches of the new ANA.

Branch Governor's Testimony

As an Australian man, born and bred in Sydney, I have always loved my city and felt a strong connection to it. My family’s roots run deep here. We first arrived on the shores of Botany Bay in the early 1800s, after leaving behind the lands of our ancient forefathers in the British Isles. For near on 200 years my Australian ancestors toiled, built and sacrificed so that I, my family and my descendants can prosper in this beautiful land. When I joined the ANA I made a personal pledge to honour the work of my Australian ancestors through my commitment to pursuing the continuity of my Australian heritage, culture and people. When our Sydney Branch incorporated, I was heartened to find that I was not alone in my love of Australian heritage or commitment to upholding it. With my like-minded nativist ANA brothers, I can share in my appreciation of our culture, it’s unique folk music, architecture and cultural events. Being a fraternal association, we also take an active interest in each other’s welfare and development. As iron sharpens iron, we seek to lift each other up, to live full and wholesome lives as dignified Australian men. Do you love your Australian heritage and culture too? Are you concerned about the direction our nation has taken in recent years and what this could mean for you, your family and your descendants? Are you ready to stand tall, with your chin held high and make sensible, measured steps towards doing something about it? If so, there can be a place for you, standing by the right shoulder of fellow, like-minded Australian men within the ANA Sydney branch. Our own, for our own. Richard
